Fishing

All of Schanz’s Guide Service’s camps are located in the upper Kennebec region of Maine and are abundant with ponds, lakes, rivers, and brooks for the fishing enthusiast. Take a moment to map out our region, and it will be easy for you to visualize the fishing opportunities in our area. Schanz’s Guide Service has the knowledge to prepare you for any fishing you would like to conduct in our area, as well as the equipment for you to utilize during your next fishing excursion.

Hiking/Canoeing/Camping

Maine’s beauty is obvious, and has a beauty unique to each of its four seasons. Schanz’s Guide Service will give you guidance in the best ways to experience this beauty while providing you with comfortable lodging and a relaxing environment. Our fall recreation excursions are especially beautiful with fall foliage that is truly unmatched.  If you love the outdoors we will provide you the means to experience it as never before!

Snowmobiling/Ice Fishing

Although the winters in many of our states can be unpredictable the one thing you can count on in Maine is our winter snow and ice. Schanz’s Guide Service has access to hundreds of miles of trails and waterways for the snowmobiling enthusiast.  We also have access to some of the country’s finest ice fishing. So if you are getting the impulse to get back into the outdoors this winter check out Schanz’s Guide Service.

Shed Hunting

A newer activity in recreation and one quite unique to Maine is our antler shed hunting. Although deer sheds may be found occasionally the real prizes are our beautiful moose sheds. Predominantly an early spring exercise; shed hunting is a treasure hunt through Maine’s beautiful woodlands. Our guides’ knowledge of Maine’s animals will give you the upper hand in discovering these treasures. If you want a little piece of the outdoors and Maine to take home this is a great opportunity for you.

Fly Fishing

For the fly fisherman in particular Maine has countless possibilities. In order to preserve Maine’s pristine trout waters our inland fisheries and wildlife has placed fly fishing only restrictions on many of our waters. This provides us with the ability as fly fishermen to go where few have gone and catch wild trout that have never seen artificial lures before. Our guides’ knowledge on all aspects of fly fishing from casting, to presentation, to the flies that will suit you best is second to none.
